So, Cathy and I spent a good part of yesterday washing and de-tagging baby clothes. Two realizations came to me while I did it.
First, it has come to my attention (the hard way) that it takes no less than a degree in Engineering to cut a tag off clothes from a baby store or department. Combine this with the fact that the clothes usually have multiple tags on them and Wow! Not to mention the outfits. Clothing manufacturers REALLY do not want those little pieces to be separated, but REALLY do not want to just put them in a bag, where it obviously wouldn't look as cute. Add to that the oddly placed tape and elaborate hangers and I almost gave up.
Second, I purchased a dresser for this child that has more storage in it than me. We over-filled it. At a standard rate of 5-6 outfits per day, Pumpkin will not have to repeat clothes for 3 to 4 weeks. And at the end of about 12 weeks, she will begin wearing all different sized clothes and I will be boxing up what is there for the next child born in the family.
Oh...is THIS what "what have I gotten myself into?" feels like?
That having all been said, a big "thank you very much" goes out to everybody that has given us clothes over the last couple of months. They are all adorable and Pumpkin is going to love them all.

Ok, now that you have the nursery set up I have a suggestion...Cathy is going to want the lamp close to the rocker. There is nothing like being able to just reach up and turn off the light while you are rocking that baby to sleep...there is also nothing like being able to turn the light on easily when you realize said child has just created some sort of warm spot on you...is it pee? is is poop? is it spit up? or is it the dinner you did not get to eat because said child pulled your plate onto you in her fit of starvation and which is just now sinking through your favorite pjs...in any case, I would recommend a move of the rocker close to the lamp. Just a suggestion from a fellow parent...By the way, love the colors and the shelves; can't wait to see it in person!
Gene,
These clothes packers are mere interns in the field. They mature into the the dreaded toy packers. You have not lived until you have spent hours unwrapping and untangling a baby bop from china.
