Money, Diapers, and Antacids

Just a general note to those who have been wondering...okay, both of you. Apparently, there has been a primal urge within to stockpile things I never dreamed that I would load up on.

I have set up savings plans within savings plans. Hiding money from myself and Cathy such that I may never find it again...even after Pumpkin is born (especially?). I think I have it in my head that we will be better able to afford a child's needs stress-free if we have stacks of cash. Even though it is a well-known reality that no amount of preparedness will get the first-time parents through without a bit of pinch. Facts of life. So I think I might spend some...

I have so far managed to buy a couple hundred diapers just because they were on sale, and I believe deep down that if I had a couple million, I would NOT have one with me half the times that I need them.

I have fallen just short of designing my own battery storage center. It would hold all the most common sizes of battery from AAA to D and would hold not just one package of each, but 2 and a half. That way, you would never feel the need to find something that could use fresh batteries just because you replenished the supply before you were *actually* out. Dangit...I think I just designed it...now I have to start buying batteries.

Today, I found myself leaning over the side of the trash pile at a jobsite because I found a large piece of pipe that I thought I might be able to affix to the ceiling of the station wagon to store baby paraphernalia like a stroller or what-not. While I was gazing at it with the gleam of uber-organization in my eye, I saw a piece of metal that I thought might work well for a battery storage center if it were only a little "bendier." Just as I was reaching for it ... WHAM! ... I realized I was stockpiling leftover construction material (read "trash").

I think I may be going nuts, but I also think I might like it!

Gene,

Are you sure it's Cathy who's pregnant?

Carey nested something fierce. For example, she was at least 7 months along, working nights; I awoke in the middle of the night to the sound of power tools. Carey was busy assembling a pre-fab changing table for Madeline.

I'm enjoying the updates!
